Women's Vibram FiveFingers KSO

Black (2016 Re-Release)

Fitness / Leisure / Running

LIMITED EDITION RE-RELEASE FOR 2016: In 2008 Vibram FiveFingers unveiled the ‘shoe’ that really changed everything and launched ‘barefoot running’ to new heights. For many of us, the KSO was our first pair of Vibrams. KSO stands for “Keep Stuff Out”. The shoe was so popular (and is still Vibram’s biggest-seller to date) that it still exists in its evolved form today: The KSO Evo.

Key Features of the ever-popular Vibram FiveFingers KSO:

  • Barefoot running feel (0mm heel to toe drop)
  • Lightweight: just 5.4 oz per shoe (40)
  • Secure Velcro Straps for instep and heel
  • 3.5 mm EVA midsole
  • Razor-siped sole (XS TREK Compound)
  • Dri-Lex
  • Machine Washable. Air dry.
  • Aegis Microbe Shield

What Vibram say about the KSO:

When you're scrambling up a rocky bluff or bounding along a riverbank, the last thing you want is gravel and grit seeping into your Vibram FiveFingers®. The KSO is an all-new design with thin, abrasion-resistant stretch polyamide and breathable stretch mesh that wraps your entire forefoot to "Keep Stuff Out". A single hook-and-loop closure helps secure the fit. Non-marking Vibram® TC1 performance rubber soles are razor-siped for a sure grip.

Who buys the KSO?

The KSO is for everyone. Everyone loves the KSO. Most who are new to barefoot running and running in Vibrams start with the KSO. This doesn't mean to say the KSO is for beginners. This shoe is absolutely fantastic, and is a firm favourite with all Vibram wearers due to its super-thin, minimal sole.

The KSO doesn't feature a heavy tread, but it is still very grippy due to its siped sole.

Due to it being of plain black colour - many favour the KSO as a leisure / everyday shoe.

Fit/Size

I have found these to be perfect for walking and can even run for the bus comfortably. Quality is excellent. Performance/overall rating is a four as I find my feet can feel a bit cold sometimes. The size is quite good my feet measured for the pair I ordered but I really do have to keep my nails short on my pinky toes.

What do you think this product is best for (ie trail running, road running, gym, beginners, advanced)?
Without the experience of other lines in this product my feeling is that these are probably best suited to general everyday walking, although I reckon I could walk a fair way before I felt the need to get them off. I have worn them to work and they were perfectly fine, got a lot of interest in them too.
What are the pros of this product?
Lightweight yet strong and tough enough to walk on concrete pavements. They actually make my feet look quite small, which is a plus when you have size eight feet. The upper membrane allows my feet to breathe. I would not wear them on a wet or particularly cold day. I have not tried it yet but I think you can wash them!
What are the cons of this product?
Only that I am unable to wear them on cold days. I expect my feet would get wet in bad weather but that`s not good reason to not buy them.
Does the product come up large/small/true to size?
For me, I really think I could have got the next size up, I just thought that as it was the recommended size they would wear in.
