Fit/Size

I was looking for a pair of trail running shoes which would also be suitable for hiking. I've always liked Vibram Fivefingers (I own and regularly run in Bikilas and KSOs) so I thought I would try a version designed specifically for more rugged terrain. After doing some research online I settled on the Trek Sport - and i'm glad I did. I've had them for two weeks - i've done several 10k runs in them together with a 15 mile hike (mostly off trail - mud, rocks, river crossings etc) - and so far they have been excellent. They are comfortable on roads and on trails. The 4mm of EVA foam provides just enough padding and protection to make running off-road comfortable (you still need to take care - there is no rock plate so if you step on a sharp stone you'll definitely feel it - and regret it). But that's what i've always liked about Five Fingers; they force you to concentrate and to pay attention to the ground beneath you. The Trek Sport are not as flexible as other Five Finger models (the sole is stiffer) but that's the point - the beefed-up sole and EVA padding offer more protection and, for me, the trade-off (slight loss of ground feel v greater protection and comfort, particularly on trails) is well worth it. The quality of the shoes meets the usual high Vibram standards. My Bikilas are still going strong after 500+ miles and I have no reason to doubt the Trek Sports will be any different. The stretchy mesh upper is very breathable and does a good job of keeping debris out. Grip is excellent. Running through puddles or crossing streams is fun because the shoes drain so well. The velcro lacing system provides a very secure, comfortable fit. A quick note on sizing: My Bikilas are size 46 and so I ordered a 46 in the Trek Sport. They fit fine, but there seems to be slightly less room in these (length wise). My big toe is very close to the top of the toe-box, whereas in the Bikilas there is a bit more room. It's not a problem for me and doesn't result in any discomfort but just something to consider - especially if you wear the thicker types of toe socks. It might just be a result of the extra rubber used in the toe-boxes of the Trek Sport, which provides more protection for the toes than my other models. In summary, the Trek Sport are excellent shoes. Very comfortable, high quality, and their performance on trails (particularly the grip and the comfort offered by the rugged sole and EVA padding) is very impressive. The service from Feetus was excellent; I got the shoes for a good price and they arrived very quickly.

I already have and would recommend anyone purchase from Feetus as their service is exceptional!!!
